Check these facts. Some of them could affect You:

More self-employed people lose their homes and business due to disability than death. You have a 1 in 3 probability of a long-term disability before age 65.
WSIB coverage is mandatory for some occupations, however if deemed to be self employed or independent contractor, consider personal coverage. This can cover you 24 hours a day both on and off the job.
Private health insurance premiums are deductible against income up to $1,500 per adult individual and $750 per child under age 18 and $1,500 if over 18. Why pay with after tax dollars? Let Revenue Canada help!
Creditor protection (if properly arranged) is available on some investment assets in the event of lawsuits or bankruptcy.

The current RRSP limit of 18% to a maximum of $21,000, increasing to $22,000 in 2010, does not provide sufficient RRSP funds for most people when compared to those with a pension plan, there are alternatives!
